Yeah, they’re shooting scenes for an episode in my hometown.  Just the same, I enjoyed the original “Heroes” TV series, and the “Heroes Reborn” reboot has been pretty good.  This comic book series focuses on a different character every story arc!

—– Jughead #1 – Archie – $3.99 —–

STK681411 Image

If this is even half as enjoyable as the rebooted “Archie” series has been, it’ll be great!  But with Chip Zdarsky writing this, I have nothing to worry about!

—– Rachel Rising TP Vol. 6: Secrets Kept – Abstract Studios – $16.99 —–

STK680582 Image

If you haven’t been reading this, go and pick up the first five trades and get back to me!  Collects issues #31-36!

Batman HC Vol. 7 Endgame – DC Comics – $24.99

STK677010 Image

Universally acclaimed, the Batman series written by Scott Snyder and drawn by Greg Capullo has been a huge hit for DC since the New 52 ‘reboot’.  In my opinion, the best way to experience this team’s Batman is through the hardcover collections.  Volume 7 cover the “Endgame” storyline, starring the Joker, who pushes Batman – and himself – to the limit!  If you haven’t read this yet, you will not believe where this story goes!  Collects Batman #35-40!

Groo: Friends and Foes TP Vol. 1 – Dark Horse – $14.99

STK676094 Image

I’ve been reading comics long enough to remember when Groo was introduced waaaaaay back in Eclipse Comics’ Destroyer Duck #1 (oh how I wish I still had that book in my collection!) and I followed Sergio Argones’ “barbarian” as the book switched publishers – Pacific Comics, Marvel Comics (under the Epic banner), Image Comics, and finally landing at Dark Horse.  Sergio, along with Mark Evanier, Stan Sakai and Tom Luth, have stayed as a team on the book since the beginning, and knowing the history of this character (although not necessary) certainly gives you background on all the jokes (cheese dip and mulching come to mind).  This trade paperback collects the first four issues of Groo’s latest maxi-series!

The Omega Men #4 – DC – $2.99

STK682786 Image

This series is so rocking good!  We need more people to be reading this!  And it’s only $2.99!  Pick up an extra copy and give to a friend!

Miracleman by Gaiman and Buckingham #1 – Marvel – $4.99

STK682633 Image

That is one gorgeous cover by Mark Buckingham, and he does the art inside too!  This begins the Miracleman reprints through Neil Gaiman and Buckingham’s run, beginning with Miracleman (1985) #17!

Aliens/Vampirella #1 (of 6) – Dynamite/Dark Horse – $3.99

STK682629 Image

Those Aliens can seem to handle everything!  Everything, that is, except a strong female lead pitted against them!  And Vampirella seems to fit that description…!  Oh snap!

Jimbo Jones #1 (One Shot) – Bongo – $3.99

STK678288 Image

The baddest, BMX-riding bully ever to roam the halls of Springfield Elementary!  And he demanded his own one-shot!  And here it is!

Rachel Rising #36 – Abstract Studios – $3.99

STK678302 Image

Another series not enough people are reading!  I didn’t get on board from the beginning either and have regretted it ever since!  Terry Moore’s story and art keeps you coming back for more (no pun intended, but what the hey…it’s my column)!

Star Trek: The Original Series: Phaser Replica Universal Remote – The Wand Company – $149.99

Lots of fun stuff coming out this week, but if you live in the Toronto area, don’t forget something else coming up that will be commanding your money….FanExpo!  More on that in an upcoming DeanBlog!
